My Life In Brighton

I love my life in Brighton. I think I mentioned that before in this blog but I can never get tired of saying it again. There is no other place that I would rather be. I am quite fortunate that my husband has decided on the same thing.

All about my life in Brighton

Usually, when people retire, they decide to go live somewhere else. That idea never crossed our minds. Although we couldn’t do anything about some of our children, my husband and I never even talked about the possibility of retiring in another city.

There were some changes after my husband and I retired. Well, the changes certainly happened a few years before we actually retired. Once the kids started leaving us to build their own lives, my husband and I decided to let go of our house to live in a smaller one. There were many retirement communities in the area but we did not narrow our search there.

But we did find a beautiful two-storey house near the coast. It is a beautiful home that I now share with my husband. It gets a bit crowded sometimes when our 3 children come for a visit. But it is home for us right now. With the wind coming from the open waters and the beautiful views, my life in Brighton is quite a dream. And I am not exaggerating.

Activities in Brighton

Even if we are retired, that does not mean we always lounge around. My husband and I have pursued different hobbies – which is alright. We do not have to spend every waking moment with each other. He has his own set of friends and I have mine. Most of them are also married to each other anyway so we still walk around the same circles.

While the husbands are busy sailing, fishing or playing golf, us ladies are busy playing bridge. Well, on most occasions we are. Sometimes, the girls and I go to the theatre or the cinemas. We also like keeping tabs on the activities in the Brighton Museum and volunteering for the community every now and then.

When my husband and I get together, we usually go to the Palace Pier. Our eldest daughter is still living in Brighton with her family and they have a bakeshop near the area. It is a great excuse to visit our grandkids – those adorable kids.

Our life in Brighton is never dull. That is one thing that I love about this place. Did you know that it was called the happiest city in the UK? After living here all my life, I can attest to that. There is a sense of freedom and carefree living that is unparalleled in the world. I don’t think we will ever leave this place and that is not really a bad thing for me.
